Lusona Financial Services have been retained by an Edinburgh based firm of chartered financial planners, who are remodeling their technical and support team. The company has an excellent reputation and a robust business plan, which will see them remain in private ownership for a long time to come.


They are looking to appoint a senior paraplanner to lead a small team of paraplanners. As the senior paraplanner, you’ll be responsible for the firm’s most technical casework, the management of the team’s workload and you will have significant input into the shaping of the team.


The senior paraplanner will still have their own caseload, so the position will offer progression to a paraplanner who still wants to remain technically proficient. Your paraplanning duties will include performing research and analysis of financial products, producing suitability reports and performing complex tax calculations related to IHT and CGT.


Career development is on offer as your role grows, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility such as compliance management or to branch out into new areas such as financial advice. The company believes in training and developing their people and allowing them the flexibility to grow within the same role or try new things. Longer-term, there is scope for the role to develop into a director’s appointment.


It is essential that you have extensive experience as a paraplanner, and you will ideally experience supervising people. You must have strong technical knowledge across pension, investment, CGT and IHT planning. Applicants must be at least level 4 qualified and will ideally want to continue their professional studies.


The client has budgeted a salary of £40,000 to £45,000, but there could be scope to go beyond this for the right individual. The firm also offers excellent benefits and additional bonus payments.
