Senior Analyst Programmer required to join the global software development team of this professional services firm in Glasgow.

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will play a key role in assisting with the hands-on development and maintenance of both internal and external facing applications for the business and its clients. You will also be involved with a range of IT projects, gaining exposure to a wide variety of systems and technologies. Operating within an Agile scrum team, key responsibilities include:

  • Taking the lead on software development workstreams, providing end-to-end ownership (including specification and design, estimation & planning, build, release and support)
  • Collaborative working with the development team and wider IT unit to achieve business objectives, maintaining strong working relationships
  • Supporting with cloud technologies on Azure; providing specialist advice on best practice, architecture, technology selection and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Assisting the management team with defining strategy, actively participating in discussions and decisions on matters including architecture and SDLC practice and implementing improvements as agreed
  • Working closely with other members of the development team, as well as BA’s and architects, to develop new software applications
  • Liaising with product owners as required
  • Upgrading existing applications in line with business change and providing 3rd level support for in-house developed applications

You will be an experienced developer with exceptional technical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent practical experience of the Azure platform is essential. You must also have demonstrable professional experience in the following:

  • ASP.Net MVC / .Net to v4.7 / .Net Core, WebAPI
  • jQuery, jQuery UI, Knockout, Angular, React
  • HTML5, CSS3 including LESS and Responsive Web Design
  • MS SQL Server programming
  • Developing and maintaining websites and applications on Azure
  • Developing and consuming RESTful APIs

Desirable experience:

  • DevOps practices and related software
  • Code quality tools (e.g. SonarQube)
  • Version control system, agile development practise and working with a formal test and QA team
  • Developing and administering Sitecore (v8 or v9)
  • Microsoft Sharepoint
