A unique opportunity for a Security and Network Support Engineer has arisen with this global market-leader in advanced network security solutions.

Based in Edinburgh, this specialist team are focused on protecting customers against DDoS attacks. Comprehensive training will be provided for a passionate individual looking to build an exciting career in the network security industry. This is a fast-paced, flexible environment where individuals are encouraged to innovate and pursue relevant professional certifications.

Initially, this role will have greater focus on Networking tasks and move towards security-related work upon completion of training and familiarisation period.

Networking Responsibilities:

  • Triage and response to installation or network-related incidents as identified by customers or automated tools
  • Determine root cause and engage with customers in order to resolve issues
  • Research and analyse sources of network issues, providing insight into new methods
  • Troubleshoot issues with customer network and virtual environment

Security Responsibilities:

  • Triage and respond to security incidents as generated through analysis and automated tools
  • Make quality decisions and communicate with customers, sometimes with incomplete information, in order to mitigate DDoS attacks in customer environments
  • Researching and analysing data sources, providing insight into new threats and collaborating with other areas of the business to identify emerging threats and trends
  • Troubleshooting problems with customer policies and controls

Essential requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or other relevant degree
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working with systems and networks
  • Experience using Wireshark and/or related tools
  • JNCIA, CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CCMA or network specific certification (or working towards)
  • Strong communication and team working skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision


  • Understanding of Virtual Infrastructure
  • Experience using Splunk and/or other SIEMs
  • Experience of Infrastructure design and management in mission critical environments
  • Network Troubleshooting
