Rare, career-enhancing opportunity for a Network/Security Development Engineer to join the dedicated Edinburgh-based SOC of this global internet network security organisation. This is a fantastic chance for a talented individual to become part of the company’s sophisticated market-offering in the real time mitigation of DDoS attacks.

Working in a small team of network and/or security experts, you will provide incident response and analysis of customer data in a 24/7 Security Operation Centre in the provision of sophisticated DDoS prevention. You will receive on-site training in the company’s bespoke solution and build trusted relationships with colleagues and customers across the globe.

Responsibilities:

  • Real-time network forensics and incident response
  • Developing and deploying application and security components for new projects
  • Working closely with the internal team to set up and maintain development/testing environments
  • Create and maintain virtual environments
  • Develop and improve process automation within operations and security services
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and resolution of issues

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems and Networks or equivalent
  • CCNA, CCNP, GPEN, OSCP or other relevant industry certification
  • Demonstrable experience working with systems and networks
  • Linux experience
  • Understanding of Virtual Infrastructure
  • Infrastructure design and management within mission critical environments, e.g. VMWare, KVM

Desired skills:

  • Scripting in Python (2 & 3) and/or Bash
  • Java
  • Knowledge of routing and switching protocols
  • Process automation
  • Application and network security fundamentals, e.g. encryption, best practices, NIST, OWASP
  • Experience using wireshark and other related tools
  • Experience using Splunk or other SIEMs

In partnership with the required technical skillset, the successful individual must also demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm and determination to succeed. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability and willingness to challenge and innovate existing processes. Upon completion of initial training period, there will also be opportunity for regular home-working.
