Our client, a globally recognised consultancy is looking to expand their R&D team in Scotland with the appointment of Managers to be based in central belt Scotland or alternatively to work from home anywhere in the UK. The team works with businesses from almost every sector of the economy to help identify their qualifying R&D activities, quantify the level of eligible costs and ultimately agree their claims with HMRC.

The Role

You will work with clients from a range of sectors, and have responsibility for:

  • Leading and project managing delivery of client engagements reporting to key internal/ external stakeholders
  • Working closely with clients (often technical SME’s) to identify qualifying projects and expenditure.
  • Preparing your findings in report form to submit to client and HMRC
  • Ensuring excellence in relation to technical outputs and service delivery on projects
  • Establishing and maintaining strong client relationships with both existing and new clients
  • Delivering comprehensive proposals and taking part in presentations
  • Leading people including coaching and developing junior staff.

For these roles, our client will consider applicants who have a technical background in either software engineering or R&D Tax.  It may be that you are looking for a change in career - moving away from practical work to more high-level understanding of technology in your specialism. Previous R&D tax experience would be ideal; however, it is not essential as training will be provided.

  • Excellent report writing, communication, interviewing and presentation skills
  • Ability to clearly translate complex technology principles involved in clients projects into a format that is easily understood by a non-technical reader
  • Builds rapport and trust quickly with senior client stakeholders to quickly document project activities
  • Competent in the use of MS Excel and manipulation of big data
  • Versatility to work with clients that vary in size and sector

Salary £negotiable + Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits.  These positions can be full time, or our client can accommodate part-time and flexible/remote working arrangements.  Genuine opportunities for career progression for strong performers
