Our client is a leading engineering firm with a global client base, are looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for a small purchasing team and will be responsible for the day to day running of the Purchasing Department.

Responsibilities of the role will include;

  • Ensuring that all materials are purchased to the correct specification, competitively priced and delivered on time to meet the manufacturing plan
  • Placing complex orders with the strategic offshore suppliers
  • Managing Supplier Relationships, through annual reviews and on-site visits
  • Continually identify and develop suppliers for low cost sourcing in other markets
  • Ensuring project budgets v’s costs are constantly reviewed and achieved
  • Mentoring and developing the team
  • Continually reviewing the processes and procedures within the team to improve efficiencies and achieve success

Experience and knowledge for the role;

  • Proven procurement experience within mechanical engineering is essential
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Experience of purchasing a wide range of engineering products
  • Experience of international purchasing from low cost sources and importing both using ocean and air freight
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Experience of managing a team and driving a culture of teamwork and success
  • Comfortable in working a fast-paced changing environment
  • MCIPS qualified or working towards completion
