Personal Tax Supervisor required for the dedicated Personal Tax team of this highly reputable firm of Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors in Edinburgh.
Working closely with Senior Management, the Personal Tax Supervisor will have responsibility for an interesting and varied portfolio of personal tax clients including sole traders, Directors, Partnerships, LLP's, investment clients, HNWI's and Trusts.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a varied client portfolio including planning compliance work, managing the tax return process through to submission and communicating with clients on day to day compliance
  • Monitoring budgets, driving best practice and liaising with senior staff on relevant issues 
  • Liaising with colleagues from other areas of the business in order to provide a coordinated client service
  • Reviewing work of junior members of the team and supporting them in the management of their own client portfolio
  • Supervising, coaching and developing junior members of the team
  • Maintaining up-to-date internal control records and ensuring full compliance with quality control procedures
  • Undertaking some advisory work and assisting senior members of the team with technical matters
  • Preparing fees and budgets/proposals for potential new clients in liaison with senior management
  • Maintaining client acceptance and anti-money laundering procedures, preparing professional engagement letters

You will be professionally qualified (CTA/ATT/ICAS) with a minimum of 4 years' tax compliance experience in personal or mixed tax gained within the accountancy or legal profession. You will demonstrate a good understanding of income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, national insurance contributions, trust and partnership taxation. You will have strong experience at review level and will have had some experience of more complex tax planning assignments. Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Experience using CCH Personal Taxation software would be desireable.
