Our client is a global engineering manufacturer, who as a result of some internal changes need to appoint an ambitious Operations professional to their team.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will play a leading role in the day to day management of the firm, having overall responsibility for all manufacturing, engineering, production, quality and supply chain operations within the Scottish operation. As the Operations Director you shall be occupy a strategy level position, and shall be expected to actively participate in driving the business forward in all areas. Focussing on operational performance to meet both the global and local businesses strategic goals, recommending areas of efficiency and improvements across the facility. You will also be responsible for implementing relevant performance indicators to improve results and solve any and all problems that arise, generating scalable solutions and ensuring decisions are engaged with key stakeholders both locally and internationally.

Your role will also involve:

  • Creating business plans and budgets, monitoring the results and performing corrective actions
  • Leading by example, to manage and direct all reporting managers and personnel, building teams and a motivated workforce
  • Arranging regular meetings and discussions with all key reporting personnel, both locally and at a wider group level
  • Facilitating effective upwards and downwards communication throughout Operations
  • Have overall authority and responsibility for all HSEQ matters within the business
  • Championing Quality and Compliance across the site
  • Applying continuous improvement and lean management techniques to all operational departments
  • Overall management of any specific projects undertaken within the business

It is expected that you shall be both degree & MBA qualified, with a background in manufacturing/production/engineering, and have already held a leadership role – ideally within a global business. You will also have worked within a Unionised environment.The development of the existing workforce is a key component of this role, so you shall be a first class man manager, with a demonstrable record of staff engagement and development over a sustained period of time. A strong and practical understanding of CI & Lean manufacturing principles is important. It goes without saying that you shall possess first class communication skills.
