Management Accountant required for the expanding Finance team of our Edinburgh based professional services firm client.  This is a newly created role in which you will support the Head of Finance with Financial Accounts, Management Accounts, Reporting, and Budgeting / Forecasting. Your primary responsibilities will include:

The main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Head of Finance with the annual budget process including production of regular monitoring reports
  • Assist with the production of annual and monthly management accounts
  • Assist external accountants in preparation of annual auditing processes
  • Review ledger postings to ensure accurate actual against budget variance monitoring
  • Carry out data interrogation to assist in preparation of management information and reports, for both routine and ad hoc distribution
  • Support, develop and maintain suite of management reports
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT submissions, Fixed Assets Register and depreciation schedules
  • Preparation of prepayments, accruals, and control A/cs, monthly journals and reconciliation
  • Support any accounting and/or reporting platforms changes
  • Critically analyse existing processes and work with the team to develop and improve on these processes
  • Deputise for the Head of Finance when necessary
  • Miscellaneous finance administrative tasks such as insurance renewals, WIP review, time-rate administration, general expenditure queries and assisting the wider Finance team in times of heavy workload

About you…

You will be a qualified Accountant CIMA/CA/ACCA with a technical accounting background in accounts production and analysis (ideally). In addition, you will have the relevant skills/experience:

  • Developed Excel skills
  • Experience using Financial Systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Able to prioritise and multi-task
  • Able to interact positively at all levels and a good team player
  • Can demonstrate initiative and the ability to be proactive, while also being able to follow instructions and provide support to the Head of Finance / firm Partners.
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a professional services environment
