Financial Services Tax Manager required for the growing tax team of this Big 4 Chartered Accountants With the option to be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, this is an exciting opportunity to lead a specialist team in offering rounded and comprehensive tax compliance, advisory and reporting services to some of the world's leading financial services businesses.

Working closely with Partners and Directors, you will be responsible for creating and nurturing trusted, long-term relationships with a range of clients from retail and investment banking, asset management, debt-purchasing and insurance. This portfolio will also provide the source of complex, interesting advisory work. Additionally, you will work with other specialists departments across Europe and globally in the delivery of high quality of tax reporting and tax audits, specifically designed around clients’ relevant tax risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Servicing a varied client portfolio on all compliance matters and resulting advisory work
  • Providing tax reporting services under IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP - including group reporting, company-only numbers and interims
  • Tax Specialist on audits, reviewing client tax accounting and managing input from other specialist teams (including transfer pricing, R&D, transactions, debt advisory), identifying and addressing risks to reach conclusions around uncertain tax positions;
  • Coordinating both offshore and nearshore teams to maximise quality and efficiency;
  • Proactive management of audit, client and statutory deadlines, billing requirements and effective delegation to the team
  • Managing and developing existing UK and international relationships both internally with the firm’s audit team and externally with clients, and encouraging new relationships;
  • Management and coaching of team members, encouraging development of technical and operational skill-sets

You will be a qualified tax professional (CTA/CA) with practice experience gained within a similar function. Previous tax reporting experience in the financial services sector is essential. You should also have previous experience in statutory audit and preparing reporting schedules and tax accounting disclosures under UK GAAP and IFRS. You will be commercially minded with a highly collaborative approach and committed to supporting the growth of the Financial Services tax practice in Scotland.
