Derivatives Accountant required for the Treasury Finance function of this Glasgow-based Financial Services corporate. This is an excellent opportunity to establish yourself as a role model and trusted contact for all derivative accounting matters within this recently formed dynamic team.

Reporting to the Treasury Hedge Accounting Manager, you be responsible for accounting for derivatives and other complex financial instruments, as well as delivering management reporting and accounting insights to support key business strategies and targets. This is a true value-add position that requires significant technical knowledge, systems ability and the ability to communicate complex matters in a clear manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing Hedge Accounting strategies and acting as they key point of contact for all derivative accounting matters
  • Maintaining IFRS compliant design and documentation of hedge accounting designations, de-designations and re-designations and associated hedge effectiveness calculations and accounting entries. 
  • Providing proactive advice on hedge accounting strategies and P&L presentation alternatives for forward planning
  • Producing month end derivative management reporting, including journal entries, reconciliations and specialist commentary
  • Maintaining awareness of IFRS exposure drafts and guidance notes in relation to Treasury products and transactions, coordinating policy development and implementation
  • Preparing financial information to support statutory disclosure requirements around derivative instruments, hedge accounting relationships and financial assets and liabilities measured at fair value ​
  • Preparing relevant regulatory returns, as required
  • Coaching junior members of the team

You will be a qualified Accountant with relevant post-qualifying experience gained in Financial Services, industry or the Big 4. You will have demonstrable experience of accounting for complex financial instruments, including derivatives, and/or a strong knowledge of hedging accounting disclosures/testing. You will have strong analytical skills coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
