Experienced Customer Support Engineer sought for our client - a Global Energy leader who dominate within digital industry. Based in West Lothian, this is your chance to join a market-leading business to support their customers with the roll-out and maintenance of their innovative software products.

The Customer support department are responsible for delivering high-quality support solutions to a wide range of customers and minimising system downtime. As Customer Support Engineer, you will be a specialist product expert, providing support with the company’s advanced in-house software. Issues could range from the resolution of database space problems to identifying code issues within software products.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding to 1st line customer support requests, investigating fully and issuing resolutions in a highly-efficient manner
  • Working as part of the 2nd line support team to investigate, manage and resolve more complex issues.
  • Carrying out investigative visits at customer sites in order to identify and resolve open issues
  • Out-of-hours support duties as and when required
  • Regular software upgrades, carrying out installations and necessary health-checks
  • Maintaining a professional and service-minded approach, prioritising customer satisfaction and a high-quality support service at all times
  • Developing your existing technical knowledge and skillset in a dynamic, fast paced environment

Requirements

  • A Degree/HND qualification in either Computing, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in an IT Support or Software environment
  • ITIL Foundation Essential Technical Skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot issues in at least 2 of the following:
    • SQL, Oracle, or equivalent databases
    • Linux Operating Systems
    • Networking and Firewalls
  • Demonstrate competence with Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Apply sound problem-solving skills to new systems and processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent customer engagement capabilities
  • Keen willingness to learn new technologies and develop existing skillset
  • Highly adaptive approach with the ability to work to set targets and deadlines

Desired:

  • Previous Software Development experience
  • Experience in Energy or Utilities sectors
