The Scotland Tax team of this national mid-tier firm of Chartered Accountants  has enjoyed significant growth over the last three years.  To augment this success, they are looking for a strong and conscientious Corporate Tax Senior Manager to support further growth development and strategic targets.

As Senior Manager for the Edinburgh Corporate Tax team, your role will be exclusively advisory focused.  With support from your team, you will deliver a high quality corporate tax service to entrepreneurial businesses.  Your primary focus will be to project manage complex advisory projects on a whole range of issues, including (but not exclusively), group reorganisations/demergers, corporate groups and international tax issues, incorporations, succession planning and the tax efficient structuring of commercial transactions.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Project managing complex advisory transactions in respect of entrepreneurial and OMB’s
  • Building strong relationships with clients and guide them through complex transactions, which can involve working to tight deadlines;
  • Maintaining a strong technical knowledge in respect of all taxes relevant to OMB transactions with preferably a strong knowledge of all of the following taxes: corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and stamp taxes.
  • Sharing knowledge with members of the team and assist junior members of the team in their research to ensure that tax advice is technically accurate,
  • Reviewing technical analysis prepared by junior members of the team on new and existing legislation, including the impact that this may have on clients;
  • Reviewing tax advisory letters, proposals, memos and reports prepared by more junior members of the team;
  • Review statutory and non-statutory clearances in respect of transactional work;
  • Liaising with intermediaries (banks, solicitors or financial advisors), and colleagues throughout advisory engagements;
  • Helping develop the business and seek new opportunities
  • Managing WIP, debtors and fees;
  • Being actively involved in the development and progression of junior members of the team;

This is an excellent opportunity for an existing Senior Manager looking to join an expanding team who can provide quality advisory work.  Alternatively, you will be highly competent and ambitious Corporate Tax Manager looking to step up.  You will be professionally qualified (CA, ACA, ACCA, CTA, ITP, Solicitor), with a strong technical knowledge of all taxes in respect of corporate tax advisory work.  The role requires strong managerial skills as you will be expected to delegate efficiently, review work and can encourage, and foster development of the more junior members of the team.  Excellent relationship building, and communication skills are important.  You will have a commercial approach and can exercise judgement coupled with the ability to generate creative solutions to problems.
