Corporate Tax Manager required for the expanding Private Business Tax team of this Big 4 firm of Chartered Accountants.

With the option to be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, you will provide tax advisory services to a wide range of clients from private businesses and private equity backed groups to partnerships and a number of HNWI’s. Whilst you will be providing corporation tax advice, you will have a keen interest in how the taxation system impacts both corporate and private clients alike and will want to develop your knowledge further through additional training and on the job learning.

You will have the opportunity to put into practice your tax technical skills in a stimulating and challenging environment working closely with Senior Managers, Directors and Partners. The work is wide-ranging including advising on transactional work, financing, restructuring, UK and international tax issues and other corporation tax issues with specialists such as capital allowances, transfer pricing and R&D.

Your day to day duties will include…

  • Proactively managing a portfolio of clients, reporting to Senior Managers and above.
  • Establishing effective working relationships directly with clients.
  • Being proactively involved in the financial management of clients.
  • Contributing to the development of personal and team knowledge.
  • Building your own network of contacts through regular attendance at internal and external meetings.
  • Keeping up-to-date with local and national business and economic issues that might potentially impact on clients and/or their industry.
  • Being actively involved in business development activities to some degree whether identifying and researching opportunities on new/existing clients or, if comfortable, participating directly alongside more senior team members in new business meetings.
  • You will be part of client-service and project teams. As such, managing both junior and more senior members of the team will be essential.

You will be a qualified Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA), Tax Advisor (CTA, ITP) or Solicitor with strong UK corporate tax knowledge in a fee-earning environment.  Whilst tax advisory skills/experience is preferential, our client welcomes applications from those looking to develop into tax advisory from a tax compliance background. The role requires developed client engagement skills coupled with strong communication and project management skills. You should be interested in being an all-round business adviser who enjoys working closely with clients to provide them with pro-active innovative and commercial tax services.

Salary up to £55,000 (DOE) + Cash/Benefit Allowance + Bonus + Pension.  Our client offers excellent training, flexible working and excellent opportunities for personal and career development.
