Ambitious Corporate Tax Assistant sought to join the Tax Advisory team of this Big 4 firm of Chartered Accountants in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your corporate tax advisory skills and build an impressive client network.

Working in a talented client-service focused team, the Tax Assistant will be responsible for providing a comprehensive corporate tax advisory service to a varied client portfolio. Along with building effective and trusted client relationships, the role will include working closely with clients to produce complex computations for HMRC and giving advice on corporate planning and restructuring projects.


  • Acting as the key point of contact for clients on day-to-day tax matters
  • Direct involvement in tax advisory work (both domestic and international) for client portfolio
  • Using strong tax technical knowledge and exceptional communication skills to discuss new tax issues and opportunities with clients
  • Working with other specialists to deliver expertise to the local market
  • Providing appropriate response and guidance following client requests for other services
  • Liaising with and supporting tax processing teams with the management and delivery of tax compliance work
  • Maintaining internal control records, ensuring compliance with quality control procedures
  • Carrying out tax audits in accordance with terms agreed with the audit team. Advising the audit team of potential tax exposure
  • Ensuring fees are raised regularly, identifying situations where overruns can be billed and assisting senior management with billing for advisory work
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of staff
  • Regular project management for cross border teams and UK service teams on advisory projects. Liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers in the delivery of successful projects and expertise to clients.

Ideally you will be a newly or nearly qualified Accountant or Tax Advisor (CTA/CA/ACA/ACCA) Prior experience in UK corporation tax is beneficial, however applications are also welcome from individuals looking to transition their career from Audit or General Practice into Tax. Strong team-working and inter-personal skills are essential, as is the ability to maintain strong client relationships and manage workload effectively. Awareness of International tax issues would be beneficial, along with sound knowledge of accountancy principles.
