Corporate Tax Advisory Senior Manager required for the Group Tax function of this Edinburgh based blue-chip corporate.

In this role, you will support the business activities of business units of the group as well as leading group projects including M&A.  You will work collaboratively with the Advisory, Compliance and Reporting teams within Group Tax on implementing tax coverage, managing relationships and communications with business stakeholders on significant risk implications.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Tax advisory lead for several business units and group projects. Being the primary point of contact for these business units - both UK and international  
  • Partnering business units to embed Tax Policy and advice on controlling tax risks, including international tax risks.
  • Tax project lead on a wide variety of group projects, business change and restructures (both legal and operating structures).
  • Review and sign-off on transactions
  • Working with process and participating in project management initiatives in the ever-changing tax world.  This will include coverage of tax risk management within a SOX, and SAO environment,
  • Management of external advisors
  • Driving continuous improvement including process efficiencies, and simplification
  • Proactively engaging in self-development and professional training initiatives for you as well as other colleagues.

You will be qualified Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA) or Tax Advisor (CTA, ITP) with a strong technical background in corporate tax advisory; whether it be from in-house or practice. You will have a good current knowledge and experience of tax legislation and accounting standards under IFRS as well as an understanding of risk expectations for a tax function impacted by SOX, Senior Accounting Officer, and Public Tax Strategy regimes.  Developed communication and influencing skills are imperative, as you will be expected to provide complex or difficult messages, from time to time, in a user-friendly manner, tailoring your approach for a variety of audiences. You’ll need to be an excellent relationship manager, able to influence and work with diverse groups of stakeholders (including HMRC) through open communication, partnership and consistent delivery.
