Rare opportunity for an ambitious Corporate Tax Senior to join the specialist tax advisory team of this top firm of Chartered Accountants and Advisors in Edinburgh.

In a purely advisory-focused role, you will work closely with the senior management team to deliver a high-quality tax service to a range of entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses. You will develop and share your own knowledge and expertise across all taxes associated with privately owned business (including corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and stamp duty). Your primary focus will be on delivering comprehensive tax advice, whilst also supporting with the management of existing client relationships and actively pursuing new opportunities to generate advisory work from new clients.


  • Working with senior members of the team to develop your Privately-Owned Business advisory knowledge and capabilities;
  • Researching new and existing legislation, including providing technical analysis on how this may impact your clients
  • Preparing tax advisory letters, proposals, memos and reports for review;
  • Drafting statutory and non-statutory clearances in respect of transactional work, and actively liaising with HMRC;
  • Effective communication with clients, intermediaries, and colleagues throughout advisory engagements;
  • Supporting with business development; seeking new opportunities both within the firm and externally and creating your own network of relevant contacts;
  • Acting as a mentor to more junior members of the team;
  • Maintaining an up-to-date technical knowledge of both personal tax and business tax matters.

You will be a qualified tax advisor or accountant (CTA/CA/ITP), or finalist, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a corporate tax or mixed tax function within professional practice. Experience of working with entrepreneurial businesses and strong technical knowledge in both corporate tax and private client tax matters would be beneficial. You will demonstrate a keen willingness to learn and develop your tax advisory skills and gain exposure to complex and dynamic transactions. Excellent client handling and communication skills are essential.
