A rare and exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer in Test to work with a global market-leader in the energy & utilities sector. Based in Edinburgh, you will join a team of highly experienced Java software designers and test engineers in supporting the testing and delivery of real-time analytics.

You will be responsible for the creation, implementation and maintenance of the company’s product test solution. Using industry standard tools, you will develop both manual and automated tests in a variety of programming languages. You will work collaboratively in a team of multi-disciplined specialists in order to identify and debug problems at the very earliest stages of development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving Automation practices and processes.
  • Advocate and champion quality coding, best practice and participating in test review.
  • Creating and running manual tests.
  • Creating and maintaining automated tests.
  • Participation in all test activities including test execution, collecting metrics, crafting and handling testing schedules, reporting defects, etc.
  • Providing input into the improving the automation test framework.
  • Developing and maintaining regression tests for production code
  • Implementing and maintaining test environments and performing compatibility testing
  • Helping to define the automated test criteria in order to determine which functionality should be automated.
  • Developing automated test for all functionality that meets the specified automation criteria.

  • Programming: Java
  • Experience of developing automated tests for Java
  • Experience of an automated test framework
  • Experience of working within Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience of API testing

  • Experience of microservices environments, containerisation and Kubernetes orchestration environments
  • Spring Boot & Spring Cloud

  • Continuous integration/delivery

You will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Sofware Engineering or in relevant “STEM” disciplines. Previous experience of creating test solutions, either manually or in a test automation environment would be highly desirable. Strong Java skills are essential. You will be a strong team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to develop your existing skills in a fast-paced environment.
