Lusona have been instructed by our client, a Big 4 firm of Chartered Accountants, to recruit an Audit Assistant Manager for their expanding office in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will be exposed to a large number of audits in Oil & Gas: clients include FTSE 250, global corporations, independents and refining & oil service firms. Additional audit work includes client appointments across public sector, construction & property and food & drink.

The team’s external audit work sits alongside internal audit engagements and other assurance reporting, providing further breadth of experience in a one-firm approach. The local market is well defined, and there are increasing opportunities for staff to get involved in business development as well as potential audit secondments to Aberdeen based corporate finance, transaction services and tax.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and project management of all aspects of audits
  • Leading teams on the ground and reporting directly to the manager and partner on a day to day basis
  • Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of projects with a key focus on optimising profitability
  • Demonstrating knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS and an awareness of the requirements of New UK GAAP, (FRS 101 and FRS 102). Knowledge of US GAAP is also preferred but not essential
  • Reporting to audit managers and partners on relevant and notable finds from audits
  • Supervising and coaching junior members of staff
  • Report writing for Audit Committees and management to identify, report and help resolve complex issues
  • Building relationships with client staff and acting as an ambassador for the firm

We are looking to hear from ambitious qualified accountants with previous external audit experience gained within an accountancy firm. You will be an effective communicator who possesses strong IT skills and the ability to act as a mentor and role model to more junior members of the team. Successful candidates will also be able to monitor and uphold high quality of service and products to clients, both internal and external.
